Assuming someone is on an ubuntu-based machine, how many more ubuntu releases can the (now unsupported) TC7.1 survive before something breaks its functionality? A few months, a few years?
What libraries, or whatever, does that stuff depend on?

I was the first and possibly only one on the development team who compiled truecrypt on an ubuntu based system, and the only hinderance i noticed was the use of libwxgtk2.8 when the newest version appears to be libwxgtk3.0. Considering the fact that libwxgtk3.0 doesn't seem to be compatible with libwxgtk2.8, i think libwxgtk2.8 will stay avaliable for a few more releases at worst.

In fact, frehberg compiled it on ubuntu before ciphershed was even there. He also added three libraries that were missing at the time (some crypto libs from RSA). It compiles on Debian just the same.
