CipherShed compromised from the beginning?

Talk, discussions and suggestions for the project itself or the forum and wiki. Not for discussion the project's goals.

Nobody "has us reply for him". I don't think he has been on these forums a lot. Any way, this was his first statement (you seem to have overlooked it):
https://lists.ciphershed.org/pipermail/ ... 00947.html
and it appears we'll try to publish some more detailed statement, probably after today's meeting.

There is not going to be a "cooked up" public relations stunt. What do you think how to solve this "public relations issue"? With a detailed answer, obviously.

But the "jpyeron" question / issue has been answered openly and honestly multiple times, both by him and by others, on this forum, on other forums, and on the mailing list. You may go back and read my post in this thread about two posts up.

However it seems to not have reached most people, so now we'll likely have a more detailed statement of his (and possibly us) published somewhere on the website.

THAT is his open and honest statement? It doesn't inspire very much confidence. :( :(

You're right. It does not, and probably was not supposed to (inspire confidence / trust in a single individual). However, "confidence inspiring" does not equal "open and honest"; in fact often times more to the contrary.

Either way, we're taking these provocations seriously, and a "open, honest", and hopefully also "trust / confidence inspiring" statement / explanation will be made soon. ;)

I'm still not sure if this forum is related to the truecrypt.ch forum, but this same topic is being censored there. An admin has hidden all posts on the topic. If these two forums are indeed related you may want to reign in the censorship over there. Censoring posts only further entrenches the idea that CipherShed is compromised due to Jason's DISA /DoD involvement. If you're trying to build trust, censoring is a sure way to destroy that trust.

The people managing that forum are not related to those managing this forum, and we will not edit people's comments (except if they overstep certain boundaries, like post discriminating comments, which has nothing to do with the issue). Obviously, there are some relations between TC.ch and this site, and I will mention that this question has been raised.
That being said, I am sure that the people over at truecrypt.ch did not intend to "censor" anything, and reading through the thread you posted it does indeed seem as this was a mere misunderstanding.

For future questions about "trust", please first read https://ciphershed.org/trust/. If you then still have questions, feel free to ask away!
