Ohhh. I really like that.

But unfortunately, we're all pretty set on CipherShed.

I do understand Resonance's points of the name making it obvious it's privacy software. I feel as though there's quick and easy ways around this issue, and there's more things to worry about than that. For example, the system-drive bootloader has a customizable prompt. It doesn't have to say CIPHERSHED!\n\nENTER YOUR PASSWORD. It can say something like Boot Disk Not Found! or some similar "fake" error. If non-system drives are encrypted, CipherShed can easily be uninstalled prior to the traveling/inspection, then reinstalled afterwards so that it doesn't show up in the "Installed Programs" list.

Definitely, but somehow, we'll need to make sure the user understands (as easily as possible) that it will appear this way, for their safety, and what they need to do to access their data.

After a lengthy mailing list discussion, it definitely seems either enough people are sufficient happy with the "CipherShed" name, and no alternative suggestions received sufficient support to topple it. Furthermore, our project's name is already starting to get out there, so a change now, without a *really* good reason, could create unnecessary confusion.

I agree. I feel that RealCrypt and VeraCrypt have an edge in identifying with TrueCrypt, but I really don't think it's a good idea to even use "True" or "Crypt" in the name, given the trademark issues. Of the names that include neither, CipherShed remains at the top of my personal preference list. I think it's time to ship our CipherShed rebranded release.

Sorry if I'm bothering anyone, just discovered the project and joined the forum. After reading the entire thread, I understand you've decided to keep Ciphershed until at least next release, and crypt and true can't be used because of legal requirements. So, what about "Amphora"? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphora) Makes all sense to me, as it's a container designed to keep content dry and fresh for any-length term (recently there was discovered wine stored in roman amphoras during centuries).

Amphora.net is available, amphora.org is registered to godaddy auto-registration system (just their kind of useless stuff), could be possibly available.
