It's probably hard to find mention of mobile devices on the mailing list because the conversations regarding them are on our old mailing list. I think this is the first message of the thread that really hit the topic:
http://www.freelists.org/post/ciphershed/Supporting-mobile-devices. I have also attached an archive of the thread in file form. They were saved with ThunderBird, and I'm not sure whether or not this form is common in mail clients. The contents are just the message source of the emails.
As you will see in the by the thread, it's not a rejected idea. It is of significant importance to a few of the developers. If you look through the FreeLists archive, though, there are more mentions (but brief) of how we might support mobile with Java ports. Someone even presented us with a Java port of TrueCrypt that can actually open volumes. I can't remember if there were limitations with the port, but the existence of this port is extremely significant as it gives us a head start into mobile development.
